As we have been speaking to residents and businesses, many have raised concerns with us about crime and anti-social behaviour in and around Hatch Lane and the Friday Hill Estate.
We have been told stories of drug dealing, vandalism, intimidation, noise nuisance and a lack of visible policing. People should feel safe in their own homes and confident walking in their neighbourhood, especially in the evenings. At present, too many families feel this is not the case.
We have raised these concerns with the Safer Neighbourhoods Team and highlighted the issues around crime and anti-social behaviour in the area, in particular, women’s safety when using the Hatch Lane underpass. This location has been raised repeatedly by residents who feel particularly unsafe using the underpass after dark. We are discussing a range of preventative measures, including increased police patrolling, improved visibility and the installation of additional CCTV to deter crime and provide reassurance.
However, there is always more to do, and that is where we need your help - take our survey!
