As the votes were counted on Friday morning it became clear that Iain Duncam Smith and the Conservative Party had won a resounding victory.
Iain Duncan Smith retained his seat with 48% of votes cast, while the Conservative Party won an overall majority in the General Election, winning 331 seats, giving them an effective majority of almost 20 seats.
The results in Chingford and Woodford Green were:
Iain Duncan Smith (Conservative) 20,999 (47.94%)
Bilal Mahmood (Labour) 12,613 (28.79%)
UKIP 5,644 (12.88%)
Lib-Dem 2,400 (5.48%)
Green 1,854 (4.23%)
