We Want a Permanent Police Base in Woodford Area

Woodford Green Police Station is no longer operational following confirmation that the Mayor of London has decided to sell the site. Your local Conservatives are completely opposed to the Labour Mayor of London’s decision to do this.

In 2017 Sadiq Khan merged the operational leadership of our Police with the neighbouring Boroughs of Barking and Dagenham and Havering. Redbridge is not their priority, so Woodford Green and South Woodford simply do not get a look in. Even though your Council Tax subsidises services elsewhere, it’s sadly no surprise that many residents feel the need to pay for private security as well!

WE THINK THIS NEEDS TO CHANGE

To be truly effective in tackling local crime, our police need to be based in our community and visible on our streets. That’s why we’re calling for a permanent police base to be maintained in Woodford Green/South Woodford. As a result of the Mayor's decision to close the Woodford Green Police Station the local Safer Neighborhood Teams for Monkhams, Churchfields and South Woodford wards are not be able to use the station as a base and have been forced to Barkingside Police Station where they will spend hours commuting back and forth to Woodford often having to do so on public transport. This will make it even harder to cut crime and represents a ridiculous use of scant resources. There are even plans to eventually move the local police teams to Ilford Police Station as plans are in the pipeline to also close Barkingside Police Station!
