Make our streets safer

It will not have escaped your attention that there has been a noticeable drop in the number of local police on our streets across South Woodford and Woodford Green. This is making many residents very concerned about rising crime levels. In particular, increased car crime and burglary are making them feel much less safe.

In 2017, Labour Mayor of London Sadiq Khan merged the operational leadership of our Police with the neighbouring Boroughs of Barking and Dagenham and Havering. Redbridge is not their priority, so Woodford Green and South Woodford simply do not get a look in. Even though your Council Tax subsidises services elsewhere, it’s sadly no surprise that many residents feel the need to pay for private security as well!

WE THINK THIS NEEDS TO CHANGE

To be truly effective in tackling local crime, our police need to be based in our community. That’s why we’re calling for a permanent police base in Woodford Green/South Woodford. On a national level, the Conservative Government is investing heavily in the Police and we are recruiting 20,000 new police officers nationwide. Here in London we need to go further. Conservative Mayoral candidate Shaun Bailey and the GLA Conservative Team have identified enough savings in the Mayor’s PR and Communication Budget to provide another 1500 police officers. We need more police officers, not press officers!

HELP US PUT MORE BOBBIES ON THE BEAT

The current police base on Woodford High Road is only used as a base for SNT Teams and has been listed for closure so we want to ensure that we have a police base that is fully operational with all of the facilities that are needed to ensure more bobbies on the beat in the local area.

Back our campaign for a long-term, visible police presence in our community now!
