The Save Our Green Space petition objecting to the proposal of approx.300 residential units at New Road was handed in to the Mayor of Waltham Forest this Monday (14th December). It will be considered by the planning team in relation to their site allocations document.
A total of 2022 local residents signed the petition.
Local councillors worked hard to publicise the Council's plan against the backdrop of a national pandemic which limited avenues of communication. Considering the situation the collection of over 2000 signatures is quite a feat.
Councillors will still be pushing the petition, looking to get 4000 which will take the matter to debate at council.
A special mention to the Friends of Ainslie and Larks Wood for putting together the application to get the site designated as Open Green Space and to the Highams Park Planning Group for their support in opposing this.
