More than 40 businesses and a number of Public Sector employers were on hand to talk to local job seekers at a fair organised by local MP, Iain Duncan Smith. Retailers like John Lewis and Macdonalds, together with the NHS and Waltham Forest Council set out their vacancies and offered advice on how to apply for jobs. CV drafting and interview technique coaching was given by local Jobcentre staff. Fergus Grant of the Department for Work & Pensions said, "Today is about helping people to get back into work and showcasing the job opportunities that exist across Waltham Forest." Mr Duncan Smith, who spoke to all employers attending the fair, afterward said, "This was a great success. We didn’t expect to get such a high turnout and 1,500 people through the door was remarkable. I hope that many of these people will now get job interviews and offers as a result of this day. "I would like to thank all those at Jobcentre Plus and at Waltham Forest Council who helped organise the day and who made it all possible."
